How Did This Accident Occur?

When two vehicles collide at an intersection like this, it’s usually because someone failed to yield the right of way, but we don’t know which one in this instance. Was one of these drivers distracted, fatigued or even impaired? Were the signal lights at the intersection working properly? Did one of the vehicles have a mechanical problem that affected its brakes or steering mechanism?

Authorities should be able to reconstruct this accident by gathering witness statements, evidence from the scene, data from the vehicles and any available video footage of the crash, but figuring out if a mechanical defect contributed to the crash may be beyond their abilities. A forensic examination of the vehicles, if warranted, should be done by a qualified expert in a laboratory setting.

Completing a thorough investigation of this crash should give the injured driver and his family answers to any questions they still have about this accident.
