Bexar County, TX — June 26, 2024, Alberto Salazar and another person were injured in a truck accident just after 1:00 p.m. along U.S. Highway 90.
According to authorities, 60-year-old Alberto Salazar and a 56-year-old man were traveling in an eastbound Ford Edge SUV on U.S. 90 in the vicinity west of Masterson Road when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, an International box van was traveling eastbound on the highway and attempted to make a right turn onto a private drive from the inside of the two lanes at an apparently unsafe time. This resulted in a collision between the front-end of the SUV—which had been occupying the right-hand lane—and the right side of the box van.
The Ford was reportedly wedged beneath the van, causing Salazar to be entrapped in the wreckage; he was extricated from the aftermath upon the arrival of emergency personnel. Salazar suffered reportedly serious injuries due to the wreck, and the man who was with him in the SUV was moderately hurt as well. They were each transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

When people hear about crashes like this one, it’s easy for them to assume they are a result of simple driver error. However, in my experience, accidents involving commercial trucks often require thorough investigations to understand all contributing factors.
In this incident, the circumstances leading to the crash are still under investigation. It is essential to determine why the box van attempted to make a right turn from the inside lane at an unsafe time. Factors such as driver distraction, misjudgment of the SUV’s position, or failure to observe traffic rules must be considered. Each of these elements can significantly impact the dynamics of such accidents.
One critical aspect of this accident is the improper lane usage. Turning from the inside lane can be hazardous, especially if the driver fails to account for vehicles in the outer lane. Investigators should examine whether the truck driver adhered to traffic regulations and if the turn was executed correctly.
The investigation should also focus on the condition and response of the drivers involved. Regular inspections and proper upkeep of vehicles are crucial for safety on the road. Additionally, the behavior and reaction times of drivers play a significant role in preventing accidents. If the drivers were distracted, fatigued, or otherwise impaired, these factors could have contributed to the crash.
Additionally, the company responsible for the box van may share in the responsibility for the accident. If the company failed to enforce safety protocols, properly train their drivers, or ensure that their vehicles were equipped with necessary warning devices, they could be held accountable for their role in the crash.
Ultimately, the goal is to uncover the truth and provide answers to those affected by the crash. Even if it requires conducting an independent investigation to obtain vital evidence, it is crucial to consider every factor to ensure that those impacted by the crash receive the clarity and closure they deserve.
