Lubbock County, TX — May 3, 2024, Alana Felton was killed as the result of a car accident at around 9:30 p.m. along County Road 1500.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened near the intersection of County Road 1500 and County Road 5800, north of Shallowater.
According to officials, 50-year-old Alana Felton was in a Ford F-250 going northbound on County Road 1500. The vehicle lost control and ended up skidding off the side of the road. It then flipped over across lanes of travel. As a result, Felton sustained fatal injuries. No one else appeared to be involved in the crash.

With single-vehicle wrecks like this, it’s important to understand whether or not authorities are really considering the evidence. This isn’t to say anything specific about this accident, but rather I get calls all the time from people who weren’t getting clear answers from authorities because their investigations simply weren’t thorough enough.
A lot of departments see accidents like this as a low priority, so important details might slip through the cracks unless there are more experienced independent investigators there to pick up the slack. Sometimes, those investigations show authorities already know all there is to know. Other times, independent investigations reveal important and unusual details authorities missed. At the end of the day, the priority should be ensuring the family isn’t left with unanswered questions and doubts. They deserve to know they’re at least getting the whole story.
