Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

With crashes like this, it’s important to know if authorities really dug into the evidence or just went with the details that were obvious at the crash scene. Did they inspect the vehicles for defects, including possible brake failure, faulty airbags, or defective seatbelts? Did they look for cameras in the area of the crash? Did they secure statements from independent witnesses, or just those involved in the crash?

At the end of the day, the evidence should tell the story. It would surprise folks how often that required independent investigators stepping in because authorities only scratched the surface before moving on. Maybe authorities here can show they were more thorough so that won’t be necessary.
