How Did This Accident Occur?
I usually hear people immediately assume the drivers in single-vehicle car accidents must be at fault. While things like fatigue, distraction, and speeding are common, there are all kinds of possible factors to consider. Not all of them are foreseeable or avoidable.
For all anyone knows, the victims car here hit something in the road. Maybe a tire blew out, but authorities didn’t inspect the car thoroughly enough. The car may have had some sort of defect.
After accidents like this, it can be challenging to get clear answers, especially if a driver has serious injuries and can’t speak to authorities right away. That’s why it’s important to know if authorities continued their investigations or if they simply moved on after a short glance at the crash scene.
I’ve had plenty of cases where our independent investigations confirmed everything authorities knew. I’ve had others where it was clear authorities just wanted to blame the victim and overlooked all kinds of important details. It’s up to victims and families to decide if they’re satisfied with the answers they’re getting and whether or not they believe there’s more to the story that’s worth digging into.
If anyone feels they had positive or negative experiences relying on police investigations, tell me about the experience in the comments.
