Accident Report

Johnson County, TX — April 1, 2026, Aden Strittmatter was injured in an alleged drunk driver accident at about 8:10 p.m. on State Highway 171.

A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2020 Dodge Journey collided with a 1964 Chevrolet C10 as both vehicles were heading south toward County Road 1000.

Chevrolet driver Aden Strittmatter, 30, was seriously injured in the crash outside of Cresson, according to the report.

The Dodge driver, who was not hurt, was charged with intoxication assault after the crash, the report states. He reportedly admitted he had been drinking.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Johnson County crash at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

It’s not clear at this point how this collision happened. I expect authorities will sort that out in their accident reconstruction, but a larger question remains unanswered if blood tests confirm the Dodge driver was intoxicated: Where had he been drinking before this crash?

It’s one thing if he had been drinking at home, but if he had been at a bar or restaurant that alcohol provider could share responsibility under Texas law for injuries he caused when he got behind the wheel if he was served while obviously intoxicated.

Attempting to connect these dots isn’t normally part of police investigations, but the Chevrolet driver’s family deserves to know everyone who may have played a role in this crash.
