Accident Report
Dallas, TX — July 15, 2026, Abel Gamboa was killed in a hit-and-run accident at about 12:20 a.m. on Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway/Interstate 20.
Authorities said a 2018 Kenworth semi-truck was stopped on the shoulder between Dowdy Ferry Road and St. Augustine Road because of a mechanical issue. The driver was working on the truck when he was hit by an eastbound 2020 Chevrolet Express van, which did not stop after the collision.
The truck driver, 39-year-old Abel Zamudio Gamboa, died from injuries suffered in the crash, according to authorities.
The driver who allegedly hit the truck driver was arrested after a local company told police she had returned a damaged company van, saying she thought she had hit a dog, authorities said. She has been charged with collision involving death.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Dallas County crash at this time.
