How Did This Accident Occur?

If it’s true this happened because someone was on the wrong side of the road, to be blunt, intoxicated driving is the most likely explanation. It’s not exactly easy getting on the wrong side of the road (especially during the daytime) without realizing the mistake and turning around. As such, just about every wrong-way crash that’s ever come across my desk involved someone who was recklessly over-served by a local establishment to they point they couldn’t tell which way was which.

That said, intoxication is a lot more common late at night or early in the morning. This crash happening just before noon makes me wonder if there’s something unusual going on here. Was the alleged wrong-way driver experiencing a medical emergency? Were they part of a road work crew? Is there an issue with signage in this area? Is the roadway itself designed or built poorly? Did authorities just misreport the facts of what happened here?

In my experience, jumping to conclusions never really helped anyone. So are glaring as some of the red flags are surrounding these preliminary reports, it’s up to the evidence to say what went wrong here. Besides, focusing on the evidence is generally what’s best for victims and families. Whether it’s authorities or more dedicate independent accident reconstructionists, my hope is that the facts will ultimately tell what led to this crash.

Did anyone witness what happened here? Are the preliminary reports accurate? Let me know in the comments.
