Loving County, TX — October 12, 2025, two people were injured as the result of an 18-wheeler accident at around 10:55 a.m. along Highway 302.
According to initial details about the accident, it happened a few miles southwest of Mentone.
Investigators said that a 69-year-old man was in a Kenworth semi-trailer going eastbound. A 42-year-old was in an International 18-wheeler. The trucks somehow collided, and a third 18-wheeler became involved, as well.
Due to the accident, the Kenworth driver had serious injuries. The International driver had minor injuries. No further information is available at this time.

A serious crash out in a rural area like this is going to present significant challenges no matter what. The fact it involves multiple commercial trucks will only create additional hurdles to overcome. In my experience, rural departments have less funding and fewer officers to dedicate to a complex accident reconstruction. That means if independent investigators aren’t brought in ASAP, something important could slip through the cracks.
That’s why I always emphasize the importance of victims and families following up with authorities early on in the investigations. If it seems like they’re able to address all questions and concerns, that’s generally a sign the officers have all the tools and time they need to do good investigations. But when their answers start to fall short, that’s when steps can be taken to bring another set of eyes so nothing important is overlooked.
