Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
People usually jump to conclusions with rear-end collisions. Even authorities sometimes let their bias get in the way of a proper accident reconstruction. At the end of the day, it’s up to the evidence to say what happened. Could it have been something simple like distraction or fatigue? Sure. But it also could have been a mechanical defect, faulty crash avoidance systems, a medical emergency, etc. Likely or not, investigations need to consider the facts rather than jumping to conclusions. The victim’s loved ones at least deserve to know they’re getting the full story.
