Clark County, AR — November 11, 2025, two people were killed following a dual 18-wheeler accident around 12:30 p.m. along Interstate 30.
Authorities say that the crash took place just outside of Gum Springs near AR-26.
It appears that one 18-wheeler was going eastbound at the time when it somehow lost control. This sent the 18-wheeler across the median and into westbound lanes. There, it crashed with another 18-wheeler. The vehicles caught fire as a result.
Due to the accident, reports say both truck drivers were killed. They have not yet been identified. Investigations are ongoing.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
As shocking as this crash is, some people might make the mistake of thinking it’s straight-forward since one of the trucks clearly lost control. However, finding out why that happened is anything but routine. Crashes like this are rarely about an isolated, simple lapse in judgment. In my experience handling hundreds of commercial vehicle accident cases, there are many complex factors that can lead to a catastrophic crossover wreck like this.
Did the truck’s cargo shift? Was the driver forced to work long hours or meet unreasonable deadlines? Was the truck not being maintained properly? Did the driver experience a sudden medical emergency? Did some other reckless driver cut them off and flee the scene? Were authorities able to recover the trucks’ Engine Control Modules from the wreckage? What about the driver’s cellphones? Did the trucks have cameras onboard, or were there any nearby buildings with cameras that could see the road? Have experienced engineers inspected the trucks for signs of mechanical or electronic defects the drivers wouldn’t have known about?
These are just some of the questions that I expect answers to following a proper truck accident reconstruction. As such, they’re the kinds of questions a family should expect answers to, as well. If it seems like authorities are dedicating as much personnel, equipment, and time needed to getting these answers, that’s good. But if following up with authorities reveals that some important possible factors are being brushed aside, there may need to be independent investigations to make sure nothing slips through the cracks.
