Colorado Springs, CO — October 26, 2024, One person was killed and one was injured following an 18-wheeler accident around 10:00 A.M.
Authorities are investigating a fatal 18-wheeler accident that claimed the life of one person and injured another on Saturday morning. According to reports, a tractor-trailer with a fuel tank was merging onto the southbound lanes of I-25 near Martin Luther King Bypass, when the second vehicle struck the tanker in its rear.
The impact then resulted in the 18-wheeler rolling on its side and began leaking fuel. When first responders arrived on the scene, they found that the driver of the car was deceased, and the passenger had sustained serious injuries. EMS transported the injured passenger to a nearby hospital, and the driver of the 18-wheeler did not require hospitalization.
This remains an active investigation, and at this time no information has been released pertaining to the status of the injures passenger as well as the cause of the accident. There are no reports of any citations or charges being filed at this time.
