Why Has the Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission Investigated QuikTrip?
The first QuikTrip was opened in 1958 by Burt Holmes and Chester Cadieux in Tulsa, OK. Since then it has grown to 758 locations and boasts revenue of $9.14 billion as of 2016. As of summer of 2017, QuikTrip is planning to open 100 more stores in Texas alone, adding to the 135 stores already located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. With so many stores, there is bound to be some obstacles that the business has to overcome and, unfortunately, complying with TABC regulations has been one of them.
The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission has conducted investigations resulting in discoveries of various administrative and criminal penalties.
Simply because a QuikTrip location was investigated, it does not mean that they are a location that displays a pattern of violating TABC code. Conversely, if a location has been investigated and investigators determine that they are not in violation of TABC code, that does not mean that the alleged violation did not take place. At times, sufficient evidence required to prove that either criminal or administrative violations occurred is hard to come by. We are simply reporting the locations that were put on the TABC's radar for one reason or another by concerned citizens and law enforcement agencies.
QuikTrip Locations That Have Been Investigated by the TABC Since 2007
Arlington - 3532 Matlock Road
Allegation:
On 7/16/2007, this location was alleged to have sold alcohol to a minor.
TABC investigators closed the investigation on 9/6/2007 with no further action taken.
Duncanville - 925 S Cockrell Hill Road
Allegation:
A law enforcement agency alleged that this location had sold alcohol to a person under the age of 21 on 5/4/2007.
After a thorough investigation, TABC investigators issued a written warning on 5/4/2007.
Dallas - 7818 Garland Road
Allegation:
On 2/9/2010, a police agency alleged that this location had sold alcohol to a minor.
TABC investigators closed their investigation of the matter on 2/19/2010 and issued a written warning.
Haltom City - 2321 N Beach St
Allegation:
A member of the Haltom City community alleged that this location had sold an open container of alcohol on 3/23/2010.
TABC investigators decided to close the investigation on 5/6/2010 with no further action taken against QuikTrip.
Dallas - 7818 Garland Road
Allegation:
This Garland Road location was involved in an investigation again after a law enforcement agency alleged that a minor was served alcohol on 5/20/2010.
The investigation was closed on 5/27/2010 and a written warning was issued.
Keller - 8836 Davis Blvd
Allegation:
On 07/07/2010, a member of the community alleged that this location had sold alcohol to a minor.
On 8/25/2010, investigators closed the case with no further action.
Burleson - 2690 SW Wilshire Boulevard
Allegation:
On 11/08/2011, it was alleged by a citizen that this location had sold alcohol to an intoxicated person.
TABC investigators looked into the claim and closed the investigation on 12/16/2011.
Dallas - 7818 Garland Rd.
Allegation:
On 9/28/2012, a law enforcement officer alleged that this location had sold alcohol to a minor.
TABC investigators issued a restrained disposition and closed the case on 10/15/2012.
North Richland Hills - 6345 Davis Boulevard
Allegation:
On 01/05/2017, local police alleged that this location had sold alcohol to someone under the age of 21.
This investigation was closed on 2/7/2017 after investigators failed to find enough evidence to support the allegations.
Denton - 321 W Eagle Drive
Allegation:
On 4/17/2017, a member of the Denton community alleged that a minor was sold alcohol.
The cased was closed by the TABC on 6/3/2017, with no further action taken.
Denton - 3113 W University Drive
Allegation:
On 09/13/2017, a patron of the Denton location alleged to TABC officials that there had been a sale of alcohol to a minor.
TABC investigators looked into the matter and found that there was not enough evidence of wrongdoing to push for any kind of punishment. The case was closed on 10/6/2017.
