A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2020 Ford Expedition was heading east when it crashed into the median barrier.

How Did This Accident Occur?
It’s easy to imagine someone drifting into the median barrier after falling asleep at this time of night, but authorities owe it to the injured driver and her family to investigate this crash so they know what really happened on I-20.
Did another vehicle force the Expedition into the median? Did the SUV have an issue with its steering mechanism? Or did the driver actually just nod off behind the wheel? The answer to those questions should be found in evidence from the scene, data from the Ford’s engine control module, cell phone records and any available video of the crash.
An independent expert may be needed if authorities suspect a vehicle defect contributed to this crash because in my experience most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or training for a forensic examination of the Expedition. The exam must be done quickly, before the SUV is repaired or scrapped.
These steps should provide much-needed answers for the driver and her family.
