Accident Report
Harrison County, TX — April 14, 2026, Donishia Owens and Carlton Mitchell were injured in a truck accident at about 3:30 p.m. on Interstate 20.
A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2016 Kenworth semi-truck was heading west when crashed into a 2017 Infiniti QX80 in a construction zone. The truck jackknifed after the crash, and its trailer collided with another semi-truck’s trailer.
Infiniti driver Donishia Owens, 29, and passenger Carlton Mitchell, 35, were seriously injured in the crash southeast of Hallsville, according to the report. An infant traveling with them suffered minor injuries.
Neither truck driver was injured, the report states, but the Kenworth driver was cited for speeding.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Harrison County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
The Kenworth truck driver has been cited for speeding, meaning authorities believe he is at fault for this crash. But what if a mechanical issue prevented the truck from stopping? Or what if the driver had a medical emergency? Or what if the police just got it wrong? That doesn’t happen often, but it is why a full investigation is important.
Investigators will gather facts that can help sort out how this crash happened, but not everything will come from the scene. Qualified experts will have to be consulted if there are indications a mechanical defect or medical issue contributed to this crash, because police aren’t equipped to make such determinations.
I’m not making these points to be difficult. I just want to remind people that accident investigations are complicated, and must be based on solid evidence that points toward truth.
