How Did This Accident Occur?
Pedestrian accidents can be challenging. The driver said he didn’t see the pedestrian before this collision on South Cooper Street. Was the area well lit? Did the Toyota have functioning headlights? Was the driver distracted, perhaps by a cell phone? These are the type of questions that investigators must consider as they attempt to reconstruct this accident.
Video footage from nearby traffic or security cameras could help, as could data from the Toyota’s engine control module, which recorded speed, braking and throttle usage before the crash. Cell phone records might show if the driver was texting or interacting with an app at the time of the crash.
This accident deserves a thorough investigation, so the pedestrian’s family gets answers to any lingering questions they have about this crash.
