How Did This Accident Occur?

It’s easy to pin accidents like this one on driver error without giving them a second glance. However, I’ve been in this line of business for over three decades. In that time, I’ve seen plenty of cases that appeared one way on the surface, but further investigation revealed underlying causes that were not immediately apparent. That is why I’m slow to jump to conclusions.

That’s not to say I know more about this specific accident than anyone else outside of the investigation. I just want to point out that the Audi’s failure to yield could hypothetically have been due to mechanical malfunctions like brake failure or a throttle issue. Hopefully, investigators—whether the authorities or a third party—get an in-depth vehicle inspection done. That way any mechanical malfunctions or even product defects that had a hand in the outcome of the wreck won’t fly under the radar.

After all, the people affected by this wreck deserve a clear and detailed understanding as to how and why the accident turned out the way it did. For that to happen, surface-level investigation just won’t cut it.
