How Did This Accident Occur?
People might think a crash like this only ever happens due to reckless driving, but that’s not true. It’s common, of course, but other factors need to be considered so that those affected by the crash at least know they’re getting the full story.
Just as an example, did authorities rule out tire failure as a possible factor? That may seem like something that would be easy to catch. However, I’ve seen a lot of investigations where officers mistook a ruptured tire as being caused by the crash rather than the other way around. Differentiating between the two takes rigorous analysis of both the vehicle and the crash scene, reconstructing vehicle positions, examining road markings, and analyzing the tire itself to look for punctures or perhaps defects leading to a catastrophic failure.
I’m not saying those efforts would reveal any unusual factors here, but I have no reason at this time to assume that they wouldn’t. It’s all part of a proper accident reconstruction, which not every police department is equipped or motivated to handle. If authorities here are covering all possibilities and getting clear answers, though, that would be good to hear. It’s just not something I take for granted.
Did anyone witness the events leading up to the crash? Let me know in the comments if there’s important context I’m missing.
