Accident Report
March 18, 2026, Donna Adams and two children were injured due to an alleged drunk driver accident at approximately 9:00 p.m. along S.H. 35.
According to authorities, three people—39-year-old Donna Adams, an 11-year-old girl, and an eight-year-old boy—were traveling in a southwest bound Toyota 4Runner on S.H. 35 in the vicinity northeast of Markham, Texas, when the accident took place. Officials indicate that a southwest bound GMC Sierra pickup truck occupied by a 22-year-old man failed to appropriately control its speed. A collision consequently occurred between the Sierra and the 4Runner. The Toyota apparently overturned over the course of the accident, as well.
The 11-year-old girl reportedly sustained serious injuries as a result of the wreck. Both Adams and the 8-year-old who had also been in the 4Runner suffered minor injuries, as well, according to reports.
Reports state that the man who had been behind the wheel of the Sierra had allegedly been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. On top of that, he was apparently distracted by cell phone use. Authorities have recommended Driving While Intoxicated charges against him.
Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
How Did This Accident Occur?
It’s clear, based on reports, that authorities suspect the driver of the Sierra had been drinking, and that was the cause of the accident. However, I’ve had the opportunity over the last three decades to analyze hundreds of alcohol-related accidents. What I want to know is this: where did the drunk driver get his alcohol?
You might be wondering why the heck that even matters? Let me explain. If the driver had been drinking at a private residence, that’s one thing. But, what if he had been drinking at an establishment that sells alcohol, like a restaurant or a bar? It’s a possibility, in that case, that he was overserved. Texas has something called Dram Shop Law. It’s a lesser-known tool that allows for those who overserved customers to be held accountable should that customer ends up hurting someone due to their inebriated state.
Hopefully the authorities who are in charge of investigating are looking beyond the physical crash scene in order to pinpoint everyone who had a hand in the outcome of this wreck. If not, then a third party investigation might be advisable, just to ensure that all the bases are being covered.
