How Did This Accident Occur?

This crash is a fair example of why I caution people against making snap judgements about car accidents, since the information made public at this point doesn’t really give us any indication of what caused this accident. The best way to know what happened on Wheatland Road is to wait until the investigation is over.

Authorities likely will consider typical factors like driver error or fatigue, but investigators also should scrutinize evidence from the scene, data from both cars and any available video footage to determine if one of the vehicles was speeding or if the Mitsubishi turned when it was not safe. The indication that the Hyundai was driving without working headlights may require a deeper dive. A qualified expert is likely the best person to determine whether some kind of mechanical defect contributed to this crash.
