Accident Report
May 19, 2025, Alex Nguyen was injured due to a car accident at approximately 3:30 a.m. along State Loop 8 (Sam Houston Tollway).
According to authorities, 52-year-old Alex Nguyen was traveling in a northbound Acura SUV on the Sam Houston Tollway service road at the Beechnut Street intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, an eastbound Nissan Altima occupied by a 25-year-old man entered the intersection against a red light. A collision consequently occurred between the front-end of the Acura and the right side of the Nissan.
Nguyen reportedly sustained serious injuries as a result of the wreck. The man from the Nissan may have been injured, as well, according to reports. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Most people would look at an accident like this and assume it was a cut and dried case of driver error. However, I’ve been doing this job long enough—over three decades—to know that that is not always the case. Sometimes there are things at play that aren’t immediately apparent. For example, have investigators taken the time to look into the light signal, itself? I realize it seems unlikely, but “unlikely” and “impossible” are not synonymous. No matter how improbable, it is possible that the light showed green for both the Acura and the Nissan. I hope investigators are taking the time necessary to rule out less likely possibilities such as signal light malfunction in order to cover all their bases and make sure that the people affected by this accident get the real, conclusive answers that they deserve.
