How Did This Accident Occur?
A crash between two semi-trucks can happen in a myriad of ways, but at this point we don’t really know what caused this collision on the New Jersey Turnpike. Initial reports indicate that one truck collided with another and then caught fire, but we don’t know if the truck that was struck was stopped, moving slowly or going highway speed at the time of the crash. That distinction matters.
In my career, I’ve been hired by people to look into crashes that were caused by the trailing vehicle, and crashes where the other vehicle was to blame. That is why a thorough investigation is essential, because crashes between 20-ton vehicles are never as simple as they seem.
