Fort Bend County, TX — July 22, 2024, Xavier Gonzalez died as the result of an accident at work at around 3:30 p.m. off Wolfgang Road.
According to OSHA, the incident initially began around 9:00 a.m. at a job site north of Damon, off Wolfgang Road and Beard Road.
An investigation summary said that 27-year-old Xavier Gonzalez was at work and fell ill. OSHA said that Xavier Gonzalez was seen by an “onsite medic team” from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Following this, Xavier Gonzalez reportedly died.
The official cause of death wasn’t reported by OSHA, but they suggest their investigation related to possible heat-related issues.

Every summer in Texas, workers end up losing their lives in the heat, often due to issues with employers not creating a safe environment for their workers and pushing them too hard, too long, or without proper supplies. I have to wonder if that’s what happened here. If so, hopefully steps have already been taken to see there will be accountability as well as improvements to protect workers in the future.
