Amarillo, TX — October 11, 2025, Manuel Hernandez Mendez was injured following a car accident at around 2:38 a.m. along Ross Street.
Investigators said that the incident took place along Ross Street at the intersection with I-40.
According to officials, 20-year-old Manuel Hernandez Mendez was in a Ford Mustang going southbound on Ross Street. At the intersection, the vehicle somehow left its lane. It then crashed into a barrier at the interstate.
Due to the accident, Manuel Hernandez Mendez was seriously injured. There did not appear to be anyone else involved in the accident. At this time, additional details are unavailable.

People often just overlook single-vehicle accidents since only one person was involved. Like any car wreck, though, it deserves a careful investigation to make sure all the facts are straight. After all, jumping to conclusions has never helped anyone, least of all someone seriously injured in a crash. So if it seems like authorities are considering this from all angles, that’s a good sign. But if they only scratched the surface, there may need to be another look from more thorough independent investigations.
