St. Louis County, MN — April 29, 2023, Xavier Henson was killed following a tanker truck accident at around 1:00 p.m. along U.S. Highway 53.
Further details surrounding the crash were provided by St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department and Minnesota State Patrol officials. They said the crash happened in the New Independence Township area outside of Culver at the U.S. 53 and Highway 33/Voyageur Highway junction.
Preliminary details surrounding the fatal crash said that 31-year-old Xavier Henson was the driver of a semi-tanker that was taking the interchange along northbound Highway 33 toward Highway 53. While rounding the curve of the interchange, the tanker somehow left its lane and ran off the side of the road. As a result, the tanker overturned and burst into flames.
Authorities say Henson sustained fatal injuries in the crash. They did not mention anyone else being hurt, and no statement was made concerning other vehicles possibly involved in the crash. Right now, the cause of the accident has yet to be confirmed.
