Hill County, TX — November 14, 2023, William Dee Carlyle was killed due to a motorcycle accident at 1:00 p.m. along Highway 174.
Preliminary information about the accident say that it happened in the area of Highway 174 and County Road 1104.

Authorities say that 79-year-old William Carlyle was the driver of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle going eastbound along the highway. It appears an oncoming Ford Edge went into the eastbound lanes and crashed with Carlyle. As a result, Carlyle succumbed to his injuries.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Authorities say drugs and alcohol may have been factors in the accident. It can’t be confirmed right now if both were a factor. Either way, some may believe, the driver will face charges, right? That’s likely true, but police departments who take investigations like these seriously know it’s not just about cuffing an intoxicated driver. It’s about getting the whole story.
For example, not many people know there can be more than one party responsible when alcohol leads to a crash. Oftentimes the clients our firm works with when suing bars, for instance, never even knew it was illegal for alcohol provider to over-serve people. As such, if authorities know alcohol is a factor, they might continue their investigations to see if a local establishment played a role in the accident, as well.
Like I said, the facts aren’t entirely clear right now, and I can only hope authorities are taken the steps necessary to ensure there is full accountability for this awful event.
