Omaha, NE — June 2, 2023, Vincent Macias was killed in an alleged wrong-way accident around 2:40 a.m. on Interstate 680E in Omaha.
Authorities report the victim’s Chevy Tahoe was allegedly driving westbound in the eastbound lanes, just east of Exit 12 48th St. near Mormon Bridge Rd., when it collided head-on with an 18-wheeler. The semi-truck driver allegedly told authorities he attempted to swerve to avoid the collision. The impact purportedly caused both vehicles to catch fire.
Mr. Macias was reportedly extracted from his SUV by the Omaha Fire Department and taken to the University of Nebraska Medical Center, however, he later perished due to the injuries sustained in the crash. There are no reports regarding the semi-truck driver.
Investigators have not released any details about what may have caused this accident.
