How Did This Accident Occur?

It’s not clear at this point why these vehicles collided. Did one drift out of its lane because the driver was distracted or fatigued? Did one swerve to avoid another vehicle? Did one have an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism? Authorities should consider these questions as they investigate this crash.

That means poring over vehicle data, physical evidence, witness statements and available video footage to reconstruct this accident. Cell phone records could show if one of these drivers was texting or interacting with an app at the time, but a qualified expert should examine the vehicles if authorities suspect a mechanical problem contributed to this crash.

This investigation should give the grieving families a clear picture of what happened on State Route 294.
