La Paz County, AZ — February 27, 2024, two people were injured in a truck accident at approximately 4:30 a.m. along Interstate Highway 10.
According to authorities, the accident took place in the eastbound lanes of Interstate Highway 10 in the vicinity west of Quartzite.
Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, an eastbound 18-wheeler with a trailer in tow had to brake quickly as it approached traffic caused by a construction zone. This abrupt braking action caused the 18-wheeler to lose control and jackknife. It then reportedly collided with the rear-end of a fuel tanker which led to both vehicles bursting into flames. The drivers of each of the trucks incurred apparently minor injuries as a result of the accident.
Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of the victims—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
