Philadelphia, PA — June 8, 2024, two women ages 24 and 25 were injured in a pedestrian versus truck accident at approximately 3:00 a.m. along the Schuylkill Expressway.
According to authorities, two women were traveling in an SUV on the Schuylkill Expressway, I.H. 76, when a minor accident took place between their SUV and a rental box truck. This apparently occurred near the exit for South Street.
The two women reportedly exited the SUV after both vehicles had pulled over to the side of the road in order to converse with the driver of the box truck. Officials state that, for as yet unknown reasons, a dump truck which had been traveling in the right-hand lane of the expressway crashed into the rear-end of the box truck which then struck both of the women.
Both of the women suffered reportedly critical injuries as a result of the accident. One other person involved apparently sustained injuries, as well, though their condition was said to have been stable. Each of the victims were transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
