Panola County, TX — November 22, 2023, one person was killed and another was injured in a truck accident at about 4:40 p.m. along U.S. 79.
According to reports, a 31-year old man was traveling in a southwest bound Chevy Cruze in the right-hand lane of U.S. Highway 79 a short distance west of the Langford Lane intersection when the accident took place.
For unknown reasons, the Cruze collided with the rear-end of the trailer of an 18-wheeler which had been traveling in the lane ahead. The 31-year-old was declared deceased as a result of the accident. The 29-year-old man behind the wheel of the 18-wheeler also reportedly sustained suspected minor injuries. He was taken to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive treatment.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by local authorities. The weather and road conditions in the area at the time were reportedly clear and dry. Additional details—including the identities of those involved—are not currently available.
