Harris County, TX — October 1, 2023, Tania Resendiz was injured following a single-vehicle accident at around 2:00 a.m. on Stella Link Road.
Authorities say they were called to the crash area off the corner of the Stella Link and Ruskin Street intersection, just off the Weslayan Street merge.

According to officials, 45-year-old Tania Resendiz was behind the wheel of a BMW which was going northbound on Stella Link. That vehicle apparently left its lane where it went off-road and crashed into a light pole. Due to this, Resendiz sustained serious injuries. There did not appear to be any other passengers or vehicles involved.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Right now there isn’t enough information to confirm what caused the crash. Frankly, that’s not unusual when it comes to single-vehicle wrecks. It surprises people to learn that single-vehicle wrecks are some of the more complex ones my firm gets calls about. Generally, people assume that if there’s only one driver, then there’s only one person would could be at fault for a crash. The reality is that there are plenty of single-vehicle crashes where the driver isn’t to blame.
Here’s what I mean by that. Not all crashes are the result of driver error. Mechanical defects, tire blowouts, medical emergencies, obstructions in the road, poor road maintenance or design, insufficient lighting or signage, etc. Are those common factors? Not exactly—certainly not compared to things like distracted driving, fatigue, alcohol, or speeding. But if investigators jump to conclusions just because something seems likely, they risk letting subtle yet crucial details slip through the cracks.
So while I certainly can’t say what did or didn’t happen here, I’m never willing to rule out something unusual unless there is clear evidence with which to do so. I can only hope authorities here share that prudence instead of letting preconceived ideas bias their investigations.
