Woman Injured in Single-Vehicle Accident on Highway 358 in Corpus Christi, TX

According to current information, a 25-year-old woman was in a Nissan Sentra going westbound along the highway. Somehow, that vehicle went to the left out of its lane and crashed into the median barrier. The Nissan then veered back to the right and hit the opposite barrier. As a result, the woman driving the Nissan had incapacitating injuries, authorities said.

Authorities allege that the driver of the Nissan was under the influence of alcohol at the time. What they did not say, however, is if the driver was coming from a local bar. Why does this matter? Well, I’ll give you an example.

We had a case not long ago where a driver on their way home from a bar lost control, crashed into a barrier, and died after the vehicle burst into flames. Authorities found out the driver was drunk and simply considered the case closed. But we were able to determine the bar that served her did so illegally because they over-served her while she was obviously intoxicated. So not only did it open that business up to liability for their role in the crash, it also exposed the negligent servers to potential criminal charges.

So when I see authorities talk about a driver allegedly being drunk just minutes after bars close, I expect to see them looking into whether or not there’s a negligent alcohol provider who needs to be held accountable for contributing to the accident. Did they do so here, or is there more to this story?
