Tyler, TX — August 18, 2024, Shirley Geisler was injured following an alleged drunk driver accident at around 6:00 a.m. on South Broadway Avenue.
According to officials, the accident took place in the area of the U.S. 69 and East 1st Street intersection.

Preliminary details say that 84-year-old Shirley Geisler was in a Toyota Camry going northbound on Broadway. At 1st Street, it appears a westbound Chevy Silverado disregarded the light and crashed into Geisler’s vehicle. Due to this, Geisler sustained serious injuries. The other driver was apparently recommended charges for intoxication assault due to possibly being under the influence of alcohol.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
If the allegations here are true, this is rather early for a drunk driving accident. However, it’s not unheard of, either. I’ve handled hundreds of cases involving drivers who were illegally over-served by a bar or some similar establishment. If someone leaves a bar, for example, and they’re three times the legal limit, they could still be too drunk to drive even hours after their last drink. That’s why crashes like this should be investigated beyond just seeing the allegedly drunk drivers held accountable. There could be more to the story that calls for consequences which authorities may not have looked into.
