Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Any commercial vehicle accident is going to present unique challenges. Those aren’t always challenges that authorities can handle on their own.
A proper investigation into a crash like this has to go beyond just examining the immediate impact. Did the crash involve distraction or fatigue? Was someone speeding or following too closely? Was lighting or visibility an issue?
Another layer of complexity comes from the possible involvement of a trucking company. There could be issues with training, background checks, maintenance, reckless business practices, etc. These details often require more than just a basic crash report, which isn’t always something authorities are motivated to do. That’s why a complete and independent review of all available evidence is essential after serious truck wrecks. If nothing else, that can help ensure the full story comes to light.
