UPDATE (October 12, 2023): Details from authorities identified the other person killed in the accident as 46-year-old Roel Caballero. Caballero was a passenger in the GMC. The driver of the GMC was identified as Thomas Michael Lee, and it appears he had non-incapacitating injuries.
San Marcos, TX — September 1, 2023, Samuel Gray and another person were killed in a multi-vehicle accident around 7 a.m. on Interstate 35 in San Marcos.
According to investigators, a GMC pickup truck was heading north on I-35, near exit 205, when it collided with a semi-truck. The initial crash reportedly forced the GMC to collide with a second vehicle, flip over the highway’s center median, and strike Mr. Gray’s southbound minivan. Officials also say a second crash occurred in the northbound lanes during the chaos left by the initial crash.
Authorities report a GMC passenger was pronounced deceased at the accident scene, and Samuel Gray reportedly died at a hospital. No other injuries were confirmed.
Authorities have not released the cause of the crash at this time.
