Arlington, TX — November 16, 2024, Richard Wing was killed following an alleged drunk driver accident at around 1:00 a.m. along North Collins Street.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident took place in the area of the North Collins Street and N.E. Green Oaks Boulevard intersection.

Investigators said that 55-year-old Richard Wing was on a motorcycle going along Collins and stopped along a center turn lane waiting to make a turn. While there, it appears a Chevy Silverado somehow crashed into Wing’s motorcycle. As a result, Wing was killed.
The other driver allegedly recovered alcohol containers from the Chevy driver, and they reportedly arrested the driver for intoxication manslaughter. Investigations are ongoing.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
These are obviously serious allegations, but with the driver apparently facing charges, folks may assume this is all open-and-shut. With alcohol, though, charging an alleged drunk driver may be just the beginning of the story. This is because a lot of alcohol-related accidents involve an accomplice: the alcohol provider who served the alleged drunk driver. Let me explain why that’s important.
Put simply, bars and other similar providers who over-serve someone that is obviously intoxicated are serving alcohol unlawfully. This can expose them to potential criminal investigations, fines, suspended licenses, and liability for the harm resulting from that intoxication. If an establishment is licensed to serve alcohol, whether it’s a bar or a liquor store or even a grocery store, they have rules to follow—rules meant to keep the community safe. Establishments who willfully disregard these rules are putting themselves over their communities, so it’s only reasonably they be held accountable so they don’t continue putting lives at risk.
Too often, though, these negligent alcohol providers slip through the cracks. I’ve handled hundreds of cases against negligent alcohol providers. I simply can’t count how many times authorities only investigated a complicit negligent alcohol provider after we put the establishments on their radar following our own independent investigations. At the end of the day, a victim’s loved ones deserve to know all parties who wronged them are facing appropriate consequences. If that was just a single drunk driver here, then it seems authorities are already taking steps to see a resolution. But if there’s more to this story, it unfortunately wouldn’t be unusual if authorities had yet to look in that direction.
