According to authorities, 55-year-old Refugio Martinez was traveling in an eastbound Nissan Frontier pickup truck on Airport Freeway (S.H. 183) in the vicinity west of Valley View Lane when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, an eastbound Audi failed to appropriately control its speed and made an unsafe lane change. A collision consequently occurred between the front-right of the Audi and the rear-left of the Frontier. The Audi then veered right and struck a guardrail, before being involved in a secondary collision between its back-right quarter and the front-right quarter of a Nissan Titan.
