Kent County, MI — June 2, 2023, a passenger vehicle collided with an 18-wheeler around noon while southbound on U.S. Hwy. 131 in Kent County.
According to officials, a Chevy Trailblazer and a semi-truck were traveling south along the highway near 54th St. when for some unexplained reason the SUV allegedly swerved and collided with the tractor-trailer. The impact then reportedly caused the semi-truck to strike the median concrete barrier and overturn. The semi purportedly fell perpendicular to the road and blocked all of the southbound lanes.
Authorities reportedly closed all of the southbound lanes and one northbound lane for about an hour to clean up the debris from the accident.
There are currently no reports regarding injuries.
Reports indicate authorities have not determined the cause of the crash.
