Authorities say that on July 12, a collision occurred when an SUV traveling along Route 94 was struck by a tractor-trailer. According to reports, the tractor-trailer was exiting the Turnpike when it crashed into the SUV.
Investigators have not determined what caused the accident but confirmed that the SUV driver, a Warwick Police Officer, sustained severe injuries in the collision. Sources say the officer was pulled out of the totaled SUV and transported to an area hospital for medical attention.
The tractor-trailer driver reportedly sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash and was also taken to the hospital.
