Grand Prairie, TX — November 14, 2022, Officer Brandon Tsai was killed as the result of an accident where his vehicle crashed during a police pursuit.
Preliminary statements say that the incident happened at around 10:51 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 161 and Dickey Road. Details suggest that 33-year-old Officer Brandon Tsai was engaged in the pursuit of another vehicle. While southbound along the highway, the police vehicle did not slow down in time to avoid hitting a second officer’s vehicle. Officer Tsai’s vehicle then overturned and hit a pole.

Due to the crash, Officer Tsai sustained fatal injuries. The driver of the other police vehicle was said to have non-incapacitating injuries. Details about the suspect being pursued are unclear at this time.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Perhaps most unusual in current statements is investigators saying that Officer Tsai’s brakes activated leading up to the crash, but there were apparently no skid marks. They suggested there may have been some kind of braking issues with the police vehicle. Have investigators been able to clear this up since their last public statements? Our officers have enough to worry about while doing their job. Their vehicles shouldn’t be yet another risk, but it’s entirely possible this was some kind of unforeseeable defect. Are authorities working to get answers for the officer’s loved ones and to ensure no other officers are in danger?
