Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

After any serious accident, it’s important to understand what exactly authorities are looking into. Things aren’t always as simple as finding out who had the right-of-way or looking at vehicle speeds.

What were road conditions like? Does this intersection have a problem with frequent accidents? Was someone unlawfully over-served by a bar? Did authorities search the area for security cameras? Did they go through the proper processes to pull cellphone records? Did they consider possible vehicle defects?

Likely or not, every possible factor deserves attention, even if it’s just to rule out that possibility. That way, victims and families affected by a crash can at least rest assured they’re getting the full story. Did that happen here?
