Amarillo, TX — July 17, 2024, Nicholas Bechthold was killed following a wrong-way car accident at approximately 4:00 a.m. along Interstate Highway 40.
According to authorities, 34-year-old Nicholas Bechthold was traveling in a westbound Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck in the eastbound lanes of I.H. 40 in the vicinity between Eastern Street and Grand Street when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, due to the wrong-way situation, a head-on collision took place between the pickup truck and an oncoming 18-wheeler. Bechthold incurred fatal injuries as a result of the wreck, according to reports, and was declared deceased at the scene. No other injuries have been reported.
