Midland, TX — August 18, 2024, Miguel Morales was injured due to a car accident at around 2:16 a.m. along Florida Avenue.
Preliminary details about the accident said that it happened off the corner of East Florida Avenue and Weatherford Street.
According to officials, 28-year-old Miguel Morales was in a Chrysler going eastbound on Florida. For reasons which aren’t clear the Chrysler ended up crashing into the back of a Ford F-250 pickup. Due to the collision, Morales reportedly had serious injuries. There were no other confirmed injuries.

People tend to hold on to the old misconception that someone who rear-ends another vehicle must automatically be at fault for an accident. The law simply isn’t that black-and-white. At the end of the day, it’s about find the factor that was more likely than not the cause of the collision. Whether that’s distraction, brake-checking, road design, brake failure, faulty tires, a medical condition, etc., it’s up to investigations to gather the evidence and let it speak for itself. The question is if authorities have been investigating things thoroughly enough to rule out even unlikely possible factors. If not, they might miss something important that would take more thorough independent investigations to bring to light.
