Victoria County, TX — June 10, 2024, Merell Johnston was injured following a car accident shortly before 5:00 p.m. along Garcitas Creek Road.
According to authorities, 82-year-old Merell Johnston was traveling in a northeast bound Nissan Versa on Garcitas Creek Road at the Farm to Market 444 intersection when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a southeast bound Ford F-150 on F.M. 444 entered the intersection at an apparently unsafe time, failing to yield the right of way at a stop sign. This resulted in a collision between the front-right side of the pickup truck and the front-end of the Nissan.
Johnston suffered reportedly severe injuries as a result of the wreck; she was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
