Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
This certainly appears to be quite the chaotic series of events. The possibility of alcohol only raises further challenges, since that could mean there’s a local alcohol provider responsible for contributing to the accident. If authorities find evidence that a bar or similar venue unlawfully over-served someone, and that led to the accident, the alcohol provider could also be legally responsible for their role in the crash.
At the end of the day, though, that could still just be one piece in this much larger puzzle. One thing to consider is that families don’t generally want someone to blame; they just want to be sure there will be accountability for what happened. That could be one individual wrongdoer, or it could be multiple parties whose actions contributed to the accident. Either way, the victims and families involved here deserve to know steps are being taken to see a proper resolution.
