Marshall, TX — December 29, 2022, Matthew Williams was fatally injured due to a workplace accident that happened at 10:00 a.m. off Memory Lane.
Details about the accident were provided by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Their statements at this time show the location of the incident to be 329 S. Memory Lane, which appears to be the TieTek facility near Woodlawn north of the city.

OSHA reports indicate that 24-year-old Matthew Walter Williams was using a spanner wrench at the time while working with a milling machine. The investigations indicate that Williams attempted to reach a brake lever while using the wrench, but the machinery apparently started as he did so. This reportedly caused the wrench to fly off of the machine, then hit Williams in the chest, killing him.
In the current OSHA statements, there are four alleged violations listed, three of which are labeled as “Serious.” The details also show a recommended current penalty of $32,814. The current status of the investigations and the reported potential penalties is unclear.
