Dallas, TX — May 19, 2024, Marin Rodriguez Nieto was killed following a car accident at around 2:30 a.m. along the LBJ Freeway.
According to initial details, the crash happened along eastbound lanes of I-20 in the area of Wheatland Road.
Investigators said that 38-year-old Marin Rodriguez Nieto was in a Chevy Silverado going along the interstate. While attempting to change lanes, a Mercedes-Benz clipped the left side of the pickup bed, and the pickup veered left. It then hit the median barrier and overturned. As a result, Rodriguez Nieto was killed. The other driver reportedly wasn’t hurt.

Right now, additional details about the crash are unavailable. One of my concerns in these situations is who is telling the victim’s side of the story. It might surprise people to see how often authorities base their reports entirely on statements from people at the scene. Well, if one of those people dies in the crash, the evidence needs to be able to speak on their behalf. If authorities don’t look for that evidence—whether that’s due to a lack of time, equipment, or motivation—they might come to inaccurate conclusions.
Perhaps authorities here have been more thorough, and it would be encouraging if the victim’s family felt they got all the answers they needed. But if it turned out there were still unanswered questions here, it wouldn’t be the first time.
