Brooklyn, NY — March 7, 2024, Maria Piovanetti was killed following a dump truck accident at around 6:15 a.m. along Tilden Avenue.
New York Police Department officials say they were called to the Flatbush area at the intersection of Tilden Avenue and Bedford Avenue.
According to multiple sources, it appears 58-year-old Maria Piovanetti was on foot at the time and attempting to cross the intersection in a crosswalk. Video shows that as Piovanetti was crossing, a red dump truck slows to a stop just outside of the crosswalk. It’s alleged that truck then began to make a right turn before Piovanetti cleared the intersection, running over Piovanetti. The truck then allegedly left the scene.
Piovanetti succumbed to fatal injuries as a result of the collision. News reports at this time claim that the dump truck involved in this accident was the same truck involved in a fatal October pedestrian accident which killed Krystyna Naprawa. Photos purport to show the same truck with the same license plate, and it’s alleged the same company is involved. However, it’s unclear at this time who was driving the truck in the accident that killed Ms. Piovanetti. Details regarding potential charges are unavailable at this time.
