Hillsboro, TX — May 1, 2023, Maria Dejesus Cavazos was injured as the result of a two-vehicle car accident at 1:11 p.m. along Highway 81.
According to investigations, the crash took place in the area of the Highway 81 and Morgan Street intersection.
Officials said in their statements that 64-year-old Maria Dejesus Cavazos was the driver of a Toyota Tacoma that was going southbound along Highway 81. At the intersection with Morgan Street, authorities believe that an eastbound vehicle failed to yield, causing it to crash into the side of the Tacoma. This caused the pickup to overturn.
As a result of the collision, Cavazos had injuries which were described as incapacitating injuries. There was no indication of the other driver being hurt. That driver apparently had recommendations to face citations after the crash. These and other details cannot be confirmed at this time.
